Former Blink-182 co-vocalist/bassist Mark Hoppus has signed on as the "official spokesperson" of Fuse TV's Just for the F of It site.

Hoppus will be blogging and providing a biweekly podcast for the site which provides music, gaming and entertainment content. He had this to say:

"We're both trying to bring new music to a new audience and occasionally introduce something that fans might not have otherwise been exposed to...And we're both under the impression that people give an F about what we're trying to say.

"Hoppus and Travis Barker announced their post-Blink-182 project, Plus 44 last year. The band also includes Carol Heller, formerly of Get the Girl and formed when their former band went on an indefinite hiatus."

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong has released a new solo track. The frontman sings on the song "Mechanical Man" which features on the animated puppet movie produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong - "Live Freaky Die Freaky".

The track has already been posted on Green Day fansites for download, reports NME.com.

"Live Freaky Die Freaky" features Armstrong as the voice of Charles Manson, as well as contributions from fellow bandmates Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, Travis Barker, Davey Havok and Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden.

In other news, Green Day will be honored in their native Bay Area by the San Francisco chapter of the Recording Academy. The award goes to "outstanding individuals whose work embodies excellence and integrity and who have improved the environment for the creative community." The organization's 2006 gala event will honor the Punk trio for their recent success in the wake of 2004's American Idiot.

Along with Green Day, others being honored this year include jazz musicians Dave Brubeck and George Duke and the San Francisco Blues Festival.

Green Day, Brubeck and Duke will be presented with the Recording Academy Honors Award on March 19th, during a gala held at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco's Union Square.
